I WOULD MY
LORD, I WOULD NOT REFRAIN!
In
this turmoil I hear your
voice in the midst
I remember another time like
this,
In the dungeons far below
You were softly saying, my
hand you wouldn’t let go,
I could hear your tender
voice
Hold My hand it is a freedom
choice
You
are closer now than before
Every hour seems like no
more left in store,
I was so afraid and didn’t
know
That I wasn’t going to die
below,
And now I'm not ashamed to
sigh
The taunts and cruelty
almost made me cry
There
was something in the air
that night
And you were shining ever so
bright,
You knew my heart desired
not prosperity
But peace, freedom, justice
and liberty
I didn’t know I wouldn’t die
that night
Only darkness was in my
sight,
But If I had to do the same
again
I would my Lord, I would not
refrain
Time
is stealing apace, my number
in age is greater
And a legal battle on the
horizon, there’s another
For peace, liberty, freedom
and justice
Lord I need the strength to
bear this,
Mine eyes feel like it’s
filled with sand
But I am proud to fight for
freedom in this land….
