CHALCEDONY EYES

"To Rent Hearts"
Marah is the well that held the bitter water
Love fell on me and my heart turned into laughter

Elim "place of trees" and afar, obscure mountain valleys
Now comes the pangs of life, I awake to realities

This Milcah made my heart warm and kept me sublime
I was overcome and perhaps, thought you were mine

Our roads I knew not, would take different paths
Enabled with such vision, I would not have a broken heart

Loves' resplendere is all I knew and felt
Satiated and repast with eros, I cared not for wealth

How can this love die like a sparkle in the night?
Though only fleeting, it seemed eternally bright!

Equableness is induced in my solitude of resounding grief
This eros gone, I live in the futility of disbelief

As Iron only when hot can be bent
Forever my heart, remains steadfastly rent...

Author's Comments:
"When iron is rubbed against a magnet it becomes magnetic. Just so, love is caught, not taught. One heart burning with love sets another on fire. The church was built on love; it proves what love can do. [FRANK C. LAUBACH] [Explanations: "Marah" is the well with bitter water that Moses and God's people found in the wilderness. God turned the bitter water to sweet drinking water. "Elim" is Hebrew and translates 'place of trees'. "Milcah" is Hebrew and means Queen. "Eros" is Greek and means 'the love between man and woman'."
