OUR DAILY BREAD
Tomorrow’s supplies, that day has not yet dawned
And its wants are as yet unborn,
The thirst we may suffer in the month of December
Today, we are sustained, this we must remember

We cannot eat or drink or wear more than today’s supply of food and raiment
With a prayerful heart, let us praise God and be content,
Sufficient for the day is all that we can enjoy
So let us be thankful as we kneel and bow

When our Father does not give us more, be content with his daily allowance
We have a portion given us of the King, a gracious portion, a perpetual assurance,
One staff aids the traveler, but a bundle of staves is a heavy burden
Wanting more than our daily allowance, makes us downtrodden

God’s providence provides us with a lifetime of his provision
Take Him at His word and it will be your dimension,
Enjoy your continual allowance, never go hungry
When the daily bread of grace is on the table of mercy!

“I have time; Lord, help me to redeem it, that I may serve Thee. I have a heart to feel, Lord, let that heart feel no love but Thine and glow with no flame but affection for Thee. You have put me in this world for something, Lord, show me what that is, and help me to work out my life’s purpose. I cast my time and eternity into Thy treasury, enable me to glorify Thee now, in all that I say, in all that I do, and with all that I have.”
