REMINISCENCE OF A BIRTH

"To a loving God"
O! Lord! What makes my heart so rent my soul so torn?
This seems to be the case from the day I was born
The vouchsafed and labyrinth is such a struggle
My sojourner's walk continues to be one big debacle

Mom went into a coma on the day of my birth
Dad's illness, he was headed for the dirt
My childhood life was always in abeyance
Marked by doldrums and enormous pestilence

F
oreign soil was my destiny at eighteen
Sorrows and strife I wanted the guillotine
What makes man such a human prey?
I for sure, just cannot say
Five decades have passed with no rest for my soul
No matter how I try to be brave and bold
I know not what tomorrow holds for me
But always and forever, I will trust in Thee!

"It is in the furnace of affliction that our Saviour watches for the Christlikeness to be brought out in us. He is pictured as a Purifier and Refiner of Silver, and we are told that He counts the process complete only when He can see His likeness in the molten metal [Norman B. Harrison]"
