LESSONS FORGOTTEN
How could we have forgotten Vietnam?
And the Soviet’s plight in Afghanistan,
Lessons forgotten have made us downtrodden
Now we are in eclipse with this heavy burden

Think about George, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice
Are their families in the midst of this sacrifice?
How can these people be so inept and cavalier?
With our soldiers, our treasure, that’s so dear

When their conscience called, they said Aye!
Defending their country whether they live or die,
Feeling the pain for the ones we lost
How many more would be the Cost?

A lesson learned, perhaps we should not roam
Minding our business and taking care of home,
For the soldiers we lost, they did not die in vain
But our Leaders should bow their heads in shame!

British occupation in the 1920’s was instigated by Iraqis wanting the Ottoman Empire removed, just as it was in 2003, when Washington’s elites conspired with Chalibi and the likes to topple Saddam Hussein, and that is exactly what we did, topple Saddam. This was done without any forethought of Iraq’s History of murderous currents of hatred, violence and fanaticism. The Bush administration had no right to force others to sacrifice for their ideology of manna, milk and honey, in a land with a history of bloodshed, treason and rapine. Because we are so arrogant, we assume that others are idiots. We need to learn that what may be sane and rational in our society, may just be, insane and irrational in other cultures. Unless we adjust our mentality, to not only tolerate but to accept people for whom and what they are, we would be forever doomed to the irrational spate of terror, for which at the moment, we are the catalyst.
