God That Comforteth!
In my heart there sings a melody
Of what my Lord has done for me
He is my God and I love Him so today
For I know I will see His face someday

In this world that is filled with misery
Through His grace I find unmerited mercy
It matters not the extent of my tragedies
I am blessed to know a God as He

From everlasting to everlasting He is my shield
When temptations come, to Him I yield
In this human race sometimes life is not fair
But by faith He wipes away my tear

I cannot imagine living in a world without God
For true justice comes only by His rod
I have always put Him first, never was he last
With honesty, I can say, my needs, He has always repast

By freely loving God and fully trusting Him, will not the distresses of life and the pangs of death; will not the corruptions within and the snares without; will not the trials above, and the temptations from beneath, all seem light afflictions, when we can hide ourselves beneath the bulwark of God’s promises? Yes, whether for delight in our quietude, or for strength in our conflict, taking it all to our Lord, must be our daily resort. There may be a promise in the Word which may exactly fit your case or there may be a potent medicine in the great pharmacopoeia of Scripture, and you may miss its comfort or you may yet continue sick unless you will examine and search the Scriptures to discover what He hath said to you!
