WHO IS JESUS?

Jesus is the verdure of grace, the emblem of peace and a significant token of triumph. On the Lion of Judah [Jesus Christ] the broken hearted can ride like Queens and Kings! Sometimes our brethren are like deceitful brooks, but our Lord Jesus Christ is an overflowing river of consolation. When Jesus rose from the dead, 'Primeval darkness heard the Almighty Fiat.

“Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” Isaiah 7:14 (Immanuel is Hebrew and translates – “God with us)

So let us this season allow our minds to go down to Bethlehem, and in the company of wondering shepherds and adoring Magi, let us see Him who was born King of the Jews, for we by faith can claim  an interest in Him, and can sing, “Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given.” Jesus is God incarnate, our Lord and our God, and yet our brother and friend; let us adore and admire.

Let us notice at the very first glance His miraculous conception. It was a thing unheard of before, and unparalleled since, that a virgin should conceive, and bear a Son. The first promise ran thus, “The seed of the woman,” (Genesis Chapter 3) and not the offspring of the man. Since venturous woman led the way in the sin which brought forth Paradise lost, she, and she alone, ushers in the Regained Paradise.

Our Savior, although truly man, was as to His human nature the Holy One of God. Let us reverently bow before the Holy Child of God whose innocence restores to mankind its ancient glory; and let us pray that He may be formed in us the hope of glory. Fail not to note his humble parentage. His mother has been described simply as “a virgin,” not a princess, or prophetess, nor a matron of a large estate.

True, the blood of kings ran in her veins; nor was her mind a weak and untaught one, for she could sing most sweetly a song of praise; but yet how humble her position, how poor the man to whom she stood affianced, and how miserable the accommodation afforded to the new-born King. Immanuel, God with us in our nature, in our sorrow, in our life’s work, in our punishment, in our grave, and now with us, or rather we with Him, in resurrection, ascension, triumph, and Second Advent Splendor!

Amazing isn’t it, the great Augustine ordered his soldiers to kill the followers of Christ on a daily basis and they did, killing hundreds every day, but yet the numbers grew. And imagine he had his wife and children killed because they became followers! So, the more people he had killed the greater the number and out of frustration he asked one of his soldiers, what do these people believe that they are willing to die? The soldier’s response to Augustine, “lord, they believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was laid in a tomb for three days and rose on the third day to give eternal life to all who would believe.” Augustine was literally in shock and then he exclaimed, “I believe that Jesus Christ died for me because it is unbelievable, and I believe He rose from the dead, because it is impossible.” Augustine came to believe exactly what the people, his wife and children believed, and he went down in History as one of the great Martyrs’  of all time!  So;

WHO IS JESUS?
People often say he is the Son of God
Others’ say he is their Savior and Lord,
But who is this man called Jesus Christ?
He is the one with all power and might!

Christ is God's glory, his effulgence
God's absolute and unequivocal Omnipotence,
His days can never ever be enumerated
All pangs, pines and sin, his death abated

In times of doldrums and dolorousness, he is efficacy
He is the dispenser of all grace and mercy,
Christ is brightness emanating from a glorious light
Do not let him go, forever hold him tight

Jesus is the executor of all appanage
His love placates fear and imparts courage,
Not only in times of need he should be Lord
But every day we should know He is Almighty God!
